PTO Shanghai handles South China market

The Philippine Tourism Office (PTO) of the Phil. Consulate General Shanghai was recently tasked by Phil. Tourism Minister Alberto Lim to handle the market planning and promotional activities covering the South China market. This is in addition to the Chongqing-Sichuan cluster which was initially included also in the jurisdiction under the said office.

Since opening its office in July 2007, the PTO Shanghai has been implementing various cost-efficient marketing activities to sustain its average growth rate of 37% in the last 3 years in terms of visa issuances for travel to the Philippines out of Eastern China.

PTO Shanghai went on a quick marketing offensive in Guangzhou and Shenzhen to rally the support of key agents, specially for the forthcoming Phil. participation at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) on 24-26 March. Several promo activities are being lined up, with the support of the partner agents, media, and the Phil. Consulate General in Guangzhou.

Plans are underway to open new charter flight programs from Guangzhou to Cebu and Kalibo-Boracay, and fortify the increased regular flight frequency from Guangzhou to Manila. The rich Cantonese market will also be prioritized to push travel to the Philippines via the Shenzhen-HKG-MNL connection.
